After losing the three-match T20I series, Bangladesh set to lock horns with Pakistan in the longer version of the game. In the latest development, Bangladesh announced the squad for the Test series that has a lot of surprise exclusions and inclusions.

The major surprise is the return of Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar while the regulars Mustafizur Rahman and Imrul Kayes were dropped.

Senior batsman Iqbal makes a comeback to the Test side after the last playing in the format in March 2019 against New Zealand.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, Rubel Hossain and Soumya Sarkar also return to the squad. Shadman Islam and Mehidy Hasan have been ruled out with injuries while Mushfiqur Rahim denied touring Pakistan due to family concerns.

Mominul will Bangladesh Test team:

Mominul Haque, who led the team against India, will once again lead the team in absence of Shakib Al Hasan.

The likes of Mohammad Mithun and Liton Das retained their place alongside Ebadat Hossain. The experienced Mahmudullah Riyad also finds a place after recovering completely from the injury.

”Mominul will lead the team in the next three Tests as like he did in the previous two Tests. We are keeping our faith in him,’’ Minhajul Abedin said to the reporters.

The first of the two-match Test series against Pakistan, set to be played in Rawalpindi from February 7. Bangladesh will play the One-off ODI and the second Test of the series in April. Both the Tests will form a part of ICC’s Test Championship.
