Bangladesh Youth Stabbed To Death Over On-Field Cricket Feud
Any sports or a game is seen as a force to bring people closer and bridge all the cultural, financial and any other gaps. And when it comes to cricket, the expectations are sky high in Bangladesh. At a time, when racism mars other sports, the gentlemen’s game is showing how the games should be played on a field. But sometimes, a few incidents bring disrepute to the game and once such incident recently took place in Bangladesh.
In a shocking news, a budding cricketer named Khalilur Rahman Siam was stabbed to death on Tuesday (December 26). All the four accused have been arrested in connection with the murder.
According to Bangladeshi news outlet Dhaka Tribune, the deceased and his friends got into a fight over a cricket match, which led to Siam getting stabbed and beaten badly. The 16-year old was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition but eventually succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday night.
The report further claimed that the deceased’s father Ainul Haque filed a case accusing ten people. Police have arrested four of them. All the arrested men are between 16-17 years old.
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the local police station, said the arrested blamed Siam for triggering the dispute when they were being interrogated.
