International cricket have seen some brilliant finishes pan out in the game. There have been cricketers from Michael Bevan to MS Dhoni who liked to finish off the game while individuals like Virat Kohli is the master and likes to chase in a game.

Today, we have look at the players, who remained unbeaten the most number of times while chasing in ODIs.

5. Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis was the finest all-rounder to have played the game. His batting stats and bowling stats are equally filled with numbers and thus it is not difficult to recognize the South African as one of the greatest all-rounders to have played the game.

Besides that Kallis had also played some match-winning knocks for his side and incidentally remained unbeaten. Kallis is currently fifth in the list of batsmen who remained unbeaten most number of times while chasing with 34 not outs from 170 matches to his name, a place above his ex-teammate Shaun Pollock.

4. Inzamam-ul-Haq

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq wore many hats for his team. He was a successful captain, match-winner and often a crucial figure of the side. Haq from the 174 ODI matches remained unbeaten 34 times to be named fourth in the list of batsmen who remained unbeaten most number of times while chasing.

3. Jonty Rhodes

Jonty Rhodes was not just an exceptional fielder but also used to score crucial runs for South Africa. Rhodes was involved in 124 matches when South Africa were chasing, among these he scored 2524 runs at an average of 36.06, and remained unbeaten 35 times.

2. Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin was one of the most successful Indian captain and an elegant batsman. Azharuddin last featured in competitive cricket for Veterans’ Series in 2007. Playing against the legends of Pakistan cricket team, he had notched up the scores of 82, 25, 14, 26, 7, 28 and 8 in the series which was played across multiple venues in Indian and Pakistan as friendly ties.

Azharuddin was involved in plenty of chases for the Indian cricket among which he remained unbeaten 37 times from 178 matches. In December 5, 2000 Azharuddin and Ajay Sharma was banned for life for his involvement in match-fixing scandal. That brought an end to his glorious career, where he notched up over 14000 international runs, and maintained a good average. He was elected the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) in September, 2019.

Alongside Azharuddin and Sharma, Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and ex-physiotherapist Ali Irani was handed five years ban related to all cricket activities.

MS Dhoni last played for India in the 2019 World Cup. Since then there has been a stun silence on his part regarding his future. Whether he returns to the international set-up or not, Dhoni will go down in history as one of the finest finishers to have ever played the game.

Incidentally, Dhoni also tops the chart for batsmen who remained unbeaten most number of times. He has remained unbeaten a record 50 times from 194 matches and scored at an average over 51 in these games.
