Batting Legend Sachin Tendulkar's Security Cover Downgraded

India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s security cover has been downgraded while Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray’s has been enhanced from Y+ to Z. Notably, Tendulkar used to enjoy the security cover of X. The decisions came as part of the state government’s security revamp of 45-odd high-profile citizens and politicians in view of reduced threat perception.
Under the X category, a policeman used to guard Tendulkar round-the-clock, the official said. However, the former Rajya Sabha member will be given a police escort whenever he steps out of his home, he said. Along with Sachin Tendulkar, the Maharashtra Government has also reduced security covers of many senior BJP leaders.

Sachin Tendulkar’s security downgraded
Tendulkar, a Bharat Ratna awardee, is a famous face in the country. He is arguably the greatest batsmen of the generation with 100 international hundred and over 34000 international centuries across the formats. Sachin Tendulkar credited his wife Anjali, who has sacrificed her career to help Tendulkar prosper in his career.
“I was doing well for India and Anjali stood first in her exam. You know she is a gold medallist doctor so… her career was also flourishing, and she was gonna reach a different level, but she decided to sacrifice her career so that we could have a family,” Sachin Tendulkar said.

“She knew that I had to travel and then who’s gonna look after Sara and Arjun? So she graciously decided to take that decision. I don’t think things would have been the same without her contribution and her graciousness. I don’t think I would have been sitting here, no chance,” he added.
Meanwhile, post-retirement, Sachin Tendulkar, is associated with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. The Rohit Sharma-led side, who won their fourth title last year, will want to defend the title in the upcoming season.
