Tymal Mills, the left-arm fast bowler from Englandand Sussex, will miss the remainder of the ongoing season of Big Bash League due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, this will be a massive blow for the Hobart Hurricanes as Mills will be out for six to eight weeks.
Mills injured his hamstring while bowling his fourth over in a warm-up game between Hurricanes and Auckland Aces at Blundstone Arena on Thursday. Subsequently, he didn’t partake in Hurricanes’ inaugural match of this season versus Brisbane Heat in Carrara. He also had a bad time during IPL 2017 due to a hamstring problem.
“This comes at a really unfortunate time for Tymal,” Adam Griffith, the Hurricanes’ head coach, said. “He was bowling well and feeling really good as a result of playing cricket throughout the year leading up to the Big Bash season,” he added.
Tymal Mills was also diagnosed with a congenital back issue in 2015. As his spinal cord and vertebrae are very close together, bowling fast could lead to more friction with the spinal cord. Hence, Mills’s workload has been managed over a period which has forced him to become a T20 specialist.
The pacer has played for a variety of teams in the shortest format including Sussex, Chittagong Vikings, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Karachi Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He is a veteran in the T20 formats and has loads of experience behind his back.
