BCCI Appoints Ajay Ratra as Fielding Coach of India Under-19 at NCA

Former Indian gloveman Ajay Ratra will take the role of fielding and wicketkeeping coach of India Under-19 at the National Cricket Academy camp in Bangalore.

The former wicketkeeper-batsman played six Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals for the Indian team during his stint with the national team.

Ratra scored 163 runs in the red-ball format whereas, he scored 90 runs in the white-ball version. Thus, he was not able to cement his place in the Indian team.

Meanwhile, India Under-19 team was able to clinch the Youth Cup 2-0 against Sri Lanka Under-19.

Indian colts were dominant as they won the first four-day game by an innings and 21 runs. The visitors were able to wrap up the second match in the same fashion as they won by an innings and 47 runs.

Pawan Shah scored a fine knock of 282 runs for the tourists. The right-handed batter registered 33 boundaries and one six during his marathon innings.

Furthermore, Indian opener Atharwa Taide scored a fine 177 runs. The left-hander’s blistering innings was laced with 20 fours and three maximums.

The two four-day game series will be followed by five One-Day Internationals series. India Under-19 will square off with Sri Lanka Under-19 on July 30 at P Sara Oval, Colombo in the first One-Dayer.

Rahul Dravid is the head coach of the Under-19 side. However, WV Raman is currently providing his insights as Dravid had toured to England with India A side.

India A was able to clinch the tri-series against Windies A and England Lions. Furthermore, they also went on to win their four-day game against Windies A side.
