India Under-19 team eventually dominate the Sri Lanka Under-19 as they won the second four-day game by an innings and 147 runs in the Youth Cup at Hambantota.

Indian opener Atharwa Taide and number three batsman Pawan Shah were the architects of the gargantuan win.

Consequently, Taide scored a massive score of 177 runs. In fact, the southpaw batsman scored his runs at more than run-a-ball. The left-hander smashed 20 fours and three maximum in his blistering knock.

On the other hand, Pawan Shah scored a fine knock of 282 runs. The right-hander was 18 runs short of the triple century as he was dismissed via run-out. Shah smashed 33 boundaries and one six during his rock-solid innings.

In fact, in the staggering score of 613 runs in the first innings, four Indian batsmen were dismissed via a run-out. Furthermore, Arjun Tendulkar was also dismissed in the similar fashion.

In response to India’s mammoth first innings score, Sri Lanka succumbed to 316 in their first essay. Pasindu Sooriyabandara scored a valiant 115. However, no other hosts batsmen were able to show much resistance.

Mohit Jangra scalped four wickets whereas, Yatin Mangwani, Ayush Badoni, and Siddharth Desai bagged two wickets each for India Under-19 in the first innings.

Thus, the home side had to face the follow-on after they were in arrears to India’s first innings score by 297 runs.

Furthermore, a more dismal performance from the hosts followed in the second innings as they skittled out for a paltry 150. In fact, no batsmen were able to cross the 30-run mark.

Desai was the chief destroyer in the second innings as the left arm orthodox bagged four scalps for India Under-19. Arjun Tendulkar also chipped in with one wicket in the second innings after going wicketless in the first. Therefore, India was able to clinch the series 2-0.

The first Youth Cup One-day International will take place on 30 July at P Sara Oval in Colombo. There will be a total of five ODIs between hosts Sri Lanka Under-19 and India Under-19.
