Just IN: BCCI Announces Revised Squads For India's Tour Of Australia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, in its latest press-release, has announced a few updates to tha Virat Kohli-led squads for the upcoming tour of Australia.

According to the latest update, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been granted paternity leave by the BCCI. Kohli, who is expecting his first child with wife Anushka Sharma, will leave Australia after the culmination of the 1st Test at the Adelaide Oval.

India had only named one specialist stumper in KL Rahul for the three-match ODI series. In the latest update, Sanju Samson, who is already a part of the T20I squad, has been added as the back-up keeper to Rahul.

The press release further stated that white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who was earlier excluded from the squad due to a hamstring injury, has been rested for the T20I and ODI series after consultation with BCCI’ medical team. Rohit has, however, been added to the Test squad.

Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the Australian tour due to injury. He has been replaced by yorker specialist T Natarajan, who has had a hugely impressive IPL campaign with the SunRisers Hyderabad.

Indian pace-bowling spearhead in Test cricket, Ishant Sharma is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and his addition to the squad for the Test rubber will be subjected to his improvement in fitness.

No call has been taken on Test keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who suffered a hamstring injury during SRH’s encounter against DC.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who was added as a net bowler, will not travel to Australia as he is still working with the medical team on his bowling workload management.
