Hyderabad captain, Ambati Rayudu, has been issued a notice by The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking a reply for the on-field protest which he held with his teammates during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tie against Karnataka, as per a report in ANI.

Along with Rayudu, Krishan Rao, Hyderabad’s team manager, has also received a notice and they have to send their answer to BCCI in seven days.

During the Hyderabad-Karnataka tie, one of the shots from Karun Nair went towards the boundary which the fielder, Mehdi Hasan, failed to save and the ball went past the boundary ropes. However, the on-field umpires failed to notice it and signalled just two runs.

Post the completion of the first innings, Karnataka captain, R Vinay Kumar, got two runs added to the team’s total. In the end, Hyderabad lost the game by just two runs, which irked Rayudu. He thought that the game had ended in a tie, unknowing that they had scored two runs short.

Rayudu, along with the other members of the team, went to the ground for the super over. There, when informed that Hyderabad had lost the game, he protested against the decision of the officials to add two runs to Karnataka’s total after the end of the innings.

The on-field conversation resulted in a delay of second game of the day, and the tie between Andhra Pradesh and Kerala was shorted to 13 overs per side, as floodlights were not available.

The BCCI took note of the incident the same day and asked for a match report from match referee. After one week, BCCI has announced its decision and has given Rayudu and team manager seven days to put send their response.

Any action on Rayudu and team manager will be taken when they submit their answer to BCCI.

Should BCCI be satisfied with Rayudu’s answer, he can escape without any punishment while BCCI can take action against him if the board is unsatisfied with the answer.
