DAVID WARNER

David Warner is one of the modern-day greats when it comes to opening the innings in the limited-overs format. An aggressive batsman by nature, Warner can destroy any bowling unit on a given day. The southpaw has made a scintillating comeback to cricket after one-year suspension and had an outstanding World Cup.

Warner is ten short of 5000 ODI runs with 17 centuries in 116 games to his name at a strike-rate of 95.

The swashbuckling England opener, Jason Roy has come up the ranks quickly to be one of the leading run-scorers. Besides, he has scored big in the recently concluded World Cup helping his country lift their maiden title. Having scored 443 runs from seven innings at an impressive strike-rate of 115.36, Roy formed a formidable opening pair alongside Jonny Bairstow.

The 29-year-old Roy has 3381 runs to his name from 84 runs at an excellent strike-rate.

The New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has been a leading run-scorer for their country. He is well-known for holding the innings tight and playing big innings in the ODI formats. Williamson had an outstanding World Cup taking his side to the finals of the recently concluded World Cup.

Williamson has over 6000 runs in his ODI career scoring a good rate including 13 centuries. Besides, he can also roll his arms when needed with his gentle off-spin.

FAF DU Plessis

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis has been one of the consistent run-scorers across formats in the World Cup. He had led the country from the front and has won various matches alongside AB de Villiers, who announced his retirement from ODI cricket last year. The Proteas skipper had a good outing in the recently concluded World Cup despite his side having a dismal run.

Du Plessis has 5507 runs to his name from 143 ODIs at an average of 47.47 including 12 centuries.

Joe Root is one of the highest run-scorers in the last four years across the globe. His conversion rate takes him to a whole new level who can rotate the strike and also play shots with the same conviction. Root played a key role as England clinched their maiden World Cup title in 2019.

England’s Test skipper has represented his country in 143 ODIs scoring 5856 runs including 16 centuries with an average of over 50. Root is pipped as one of the modern-day great among the batsmen.

BEN STOKES

Ben Stokes is arguably the best all-rounder of the current generation. His ability to contribute to all the departments reminds everybody of former South African Jacques Kallis. Stokes can clear the ground at ease and can claim wickets at crucial positions.

The English all-rounder has played 95 ODIs scoring 2682 runs at an average of 40. He also claimed 70 wickets and was one of the significant contributors to England’s World-Cup winning campaign.

Alex Carey had a career-defining ICC World Cup 2019 providing stability in the lower-order for Australia. He has played some of gutsiest innings to emerge as the best wicket-keeper of the tournament among some of the heavyweight names.

Carey averages over 40 in the ODIs scoring 804 runs in the 29 ODIs with a good strike. The 27-year-old is although new to his international career, but has already shown signs for serving Australian cricket for long.

The West Indies skipper Jason Holder has been one of the best all-rounders of the current generation. The tall and lanky fast bowler bowls good medium pace and is well-known for providing breakthroughs throughout the course of the game. Besides, Holder can also chip in with useful runs in the lower order and has a happy knack of playing big innings.

Holder has represented West Indies in 104 ODIs so far claiming 129 wickets and scoring 1744 runs at a strike-rate of over almost 100.

MITCHELL STARC

Mitchell Starc brought fierce pace and immaculate discipline to once again be his team’s most lethal weapon with the ball. Starc finished with 27 wickets from 10 matches – an all-time World Cup record, surpassing Glenn McGrath’s tally of 26 wickets in the 2007 edition.

An 85 ODI veteran, Starc has claimed 172 wickets at an average of 20.99 with an economy rate just over 5. He has the best figure of six for 28 against New Zealand which came in the 2015 ICC World Cup where he finished as the highest run-scorer.

The latest pace sensation Jofra Archer has been an overnight star for England. He has been their highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2019 claiming 20 wickets in the competition. Archer also bowled the Super Over in the finals against New Zealand and helped England lift the World Cup title.

New to his international career, Barbados-born Archer has already shown that he will take England to greater heights.

His ability to spin the ball both ways and provide breakthroughs has made him one of the crucial component in the limited-overs side.

Rashid has so far represented England in 99 ODIs claiming 143 wickets at an economy rate of 5.62.
