Just months after Ben Stokes’ one-handed blinder in the ICC World Cup against South Africa, Rameez Shahzad, United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) top-order batsman, took a similar one-handed stunner. Rameez Shahzad pulled off the catch to get rid of George Munsey of Scotland in the third play off in the ongoing T20 World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

In fact, it would not be wrong to say that Rameez Shahzad’s effort was a bit better than Stokes’. Munsey was going great guns with the bat when the catch brought an end to his 65-run knock. In the 14th over, Ahmed Raza tossed one up to Munsey and the left-hander tried to clear the fielder at long-off. At first, it looked like the ball would fall behind Rameez Shahzad. However, the fielder had different ideas.

Rameez Shahzad came running from the left side and timed his jump to perfection as he held the catch with one hand before falling on the ground.

Here is a clip of that stunner from Rameez Shahzad:

The stunning effort with the field from Rameez Shahzad, however, could not take his team to a win. The hosts lost the game by 90 runs as Scotland stormed into the final of the tournament after registering a thumping win. After winning the toss, Scotland decided to bat first.

Munsey along with his captain Kyle Coetzer put on 87 runs for the first wicket that set up the platform for a big total. Late flourish from Richie Berrington, who scored 48 off just 18 deliveries, and Calum MacLeod, who slammed 25 from 12, helped Scotland put up a mammoth total of 198 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, UAE were all out for just 108 inside 19 overs. For UAE, Rameez Shahzad top scored with 34.
