India bowling coach Bharat Arun has opened up on the alleged rift between India skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma. In the wake of India’s heartbreaking exit from the World Cup, reports circulated in sections of media about the Indian side being divided in two camps – a Virat Kohli one and another one of Rohit Sharma’s. The reports had also suggested that a few Indian players were not happy with the Indian coaching staff headed by Ravi Shastri.

India were one of the favourites to win the tournament after finishing the group stage at the top of the points table. The Men in Blue were looking well on their way to the final after restricting the Black Caps to 239 for 9. However, things just did not pan out as expected with the bat. New Zealand bowled out India for just 221.

And as soon as India suffered the defeat, reports of rift inside the camp started doing the rounds. Speculations over those reports only escalated after the team-management did not come out in public to clear the rumours. Well, Bharat Arun has now become the first man from the backroom staff to speak on the issue.

The former India bowler rubbished the rumours and said that Rohit and Virat share great admiration for each other.

“It has to be seen to be believed. Rohit often runs up to Kohli to discuss things. They get along very well, share great admiration for each other’s ability. Kohli led the side well, is maturing as a captain and it’s nice that he has Rohit for support. The spirit in the camp was wonderful throughout,” Bharat Arun told Sportstar.

India, meanwhile, are currently gearing up for the tour of West Indies, starting on August 3. They will play three ODIs, three T20Is and two Tests against West Indies.
