India has developed in a formidable unit over the past few years, their batting compliments their bowling. India, in fact, also have a problem of plenty. The onus of the batting order has been well handled by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Hardik Padya while India have fine bowling unit composing Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.
However, since MS Dhoni led India to the 2013 Champions Trophy triumph, the team has not been able to win a single ICC event. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, speaking to Espncricinfo, gave his view on what he feels has been the problem for the national team over course of this period.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: We’ve always lost due to an unfortunate event or incident
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has evolved as the premier fast bowler of the Indian fast bowling unit. His ability to swing the bowl both ways has added muscle to the Indian bowling. He has over the years remained consistent for the national team. However, alike every fast bowler, injury has been a bit of concern for the Meerut player.
“In that entire World Cup, Rohit Sharma had scored five or six centuries, K.L. Rahul was in good form, Virat Kohli played as always and we had MS Dhoni as well in the team,” ESPNcricinfo Cricket Baazi.
“Even in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, things changed after Jasprit Bumrah’s no-ball. It’s not like we’ve had a one-sided loss or we went down without a fight.
“We’ve always lost due to an unfortunate event or incident. Although, the 2017 Champions Trophy final was a one-sided loss where they outplayed us.
Bhuvneshwar had returned figures of 5/78 in that match. He has picked up 63 wickets in Tests and 132 in ODIs.
