Seasoned Team India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar missed the three-match ODI series against West Indies due to an injury. The right-arm pacer has been struggling with injury since long, and the cricketer is not sure when he will return to cricket with the ICC T20 World Cup lined up in Australia next year.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been struggling with injuries since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. He had to miss games in the said season with a back injury. Bhuvneshwar struggled in India’s high-profile tour of England missing T20Is and ODIs before eventually returning home midway during the Test series after the back injury resurfaced.
The fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh also struggled with hamstring injuries at World Cup 2019 as well. Notably, the India pacer walked off midway during the high-profile encounter against Pakistan in Manchester. He also had to miss the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh before coming back against West Indies only to injure himself again.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar not sure about his return
With the ICC T20I World Cup less than in a year, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not confident of his return. The fast bowler said that currently, he is focusing only to get fitter and is not eyeing any time frame.
“World T20 is still good nine months away. I am not thinking about that. The first thing is getting fit, and I don’t know when I will get fit,” Bhuvneshwar told PTI in an exclusive interview.
However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar doesn’t want to blame the National Cricket Academy for allegedly mishandling his rehabilitation. He, though, is a bit surprised as to why his hernia couldn’t be detected earlier. The national academy has come under the scanner in recent times with players refusing to go to NCA for rehabilitation.

“It’s up to BCCI as to how they are going to take it. They must have had a chat with the NCA. NCA must have tried their best, but I don’t know what went wrong and why they couldn’t diagnose. Still, I am not the right person to comment on that as it might say something else and BCCI will come up with something else,” Bhuvneshwar concluded.
