Prominent Team India bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar did not take long to carve a place in the fans’ heart with his splendid bowling.

In his very first international over, he castled Pakistan’s Nasir Jamshed. And, in his very first One-day International over, he cleaned up Mohammad Hafeez with a beauty. But Bhuvneshwar had become a household name even before his exploits in international cricket.

At an early age of 19, he had achieved something which no other bowler had achieved, and to be precise as a teenager. Bhuvneshwar had dismissed legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar for a duck which was latter’s first duck in Indian domestic cricket.

In a recent interview, the India star opened up about the memorable day. Speaking on the sets of ‘Breakfast with Champions’ alongside Gaurav Kapur, the right-arm pacer revealed how he was spellbound after seeing Sachin before castling him on the ground.

“That started on the morning of the match. Our rooms were on the same floor.  I remember leaving my room and I heard a sound of someone trying to lock the door.  Turned and I realised he was Sachin Tendulkar.  I said ‘good morning paaji’ and he wished me back. He was on his phone and walked towards the lift. We were standing together in the lift.  I was standing behind him and was just staring at him.  We reached the ground floor and he departed by wishing me all the best,” he said.

The pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar further said he just could not take out the moment of meeting Sachin out of his mind.

“That moment of meeting him was playing in my head on loop when I entered the ground. Even when we reached the ground, he walked in from the bowling end and I was still staring at him.  You could say I was possessed.  I was completely blank,” he said.

The 28-year-old Meerut-born Bhuvneshwar Kumar has formed a threatening pair with Jasprit Bumrah owing to the death bowling particularly in the limited-overs fold.

“Then he got out. Even I couldn’t believe it even though I was celebrating.  Even after the end of the day, I still hadn’t realised what had happened.  After the game, I realised it was a huge achievement,” he added.
