Premier India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar wants versatile actor Rajkumar Rao to play his biopic whenever it is made. Biopic on sporting icons has become a trend in Bollywood industry over the past few years. There have already been biopics on former India captain Mohammad Azharudin and MS Dhoni while among other sports boxing legend Mary Kom and sprint great Milkha Singh’s life have also been depicted on cinema.
The biopic has been seen as way to depict the life journey of an Indian sporting icon. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar has established himself as key fast bowler for the national team, injuries have been a concern for him as it has often hampered his progress.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Rajkummar Rao has a lot of similarities
Coming from Meerut, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a name for himself with his ability to swing the ball both ways. Kumar, 30, said that Rajkumar Rao has a lot of similarities with him and thus he should play the lead role in the biopic.
“Once somebody suggested that Rajkummar Rao has a lot of similarities with me in terms of physical appearance. So he could play my role in my biopic,” said Bhuvneshwar Kumar said in a webinar organised by GainAccess Sports & Entertainment and SportzPower.
Bhuvneshwar has picked up 63 Test wickets at an average nearly 26 while 132 scalps in ODIs at an average of 34.60. He is still to resume training after the hiatus due to novel coronavirus pandemic. He might be next seen in international action during the Test series Down Under in December.
