The Big Bash League 2020/21 or BBL 10 will begin on Thursday (10th December) when Hobart Hurricanes will take on the latest BBL champions Sydney Sixers at Bellerive Oval (Hobart). This match will begin at 07:15 PM (19:15) local time.

Hobart Hurricanes are the two-time runners-up side (2013/14 & 2017/18) while the defending champions Sydney Sixers have celebrated BBL trophy success for twice (2011/12 & 2019/20). Both these teams will try their best to start this new season with a victory.

Both teams are missing their regular captains. Hobart Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade is currently with the national squad, who recently completed the home limited-overs series against India and are now getting ready for the Test series. Meanwhile, Moises Henriques, the regular captain of Sydney Sixers, is currently with Australia A squad, who are getting ready to face the Indian team in the three-day day/night warm-up match, starting from 11th December at Sydney.

So, while Peter Handscomb will handle the early period of the leadership of Hobart Hurricanes, Daniel Hughes will play a similar role for the defending champions. Apart from their respective skippers, both teams will also miss some of their crucial members.

Bellerive Oval (Hobart) is generally known for good batting pitch. In the BBL 09, the first batting side dominated at this venue. While the venue hosted five matches in the BBL 2019/20, the first batting side won all the last four matches.

But it is the early period of the new summer. As the pitches are very fresh in this early period, the T20 captains generally have the tendency to choose bowl first.
