The last season’s runners-up Melbourne Stars won their opening game of the BBL 10 as they comfortably beat Brisbane Heat. While Nathan Coulter-Nile was the hero of the match with his incredible boundary-less bowling figures of 3.5-0-10-4, Hilton Cartwright (46*) and captain Glenn Maxwell (46) helped the side to chase down the target comfortably despite top-order struggle.

While Stars will try their best to win the second match of this tournament, they surely want better performances from Marcus Stoinis (scored 0 in their BBL 10 opener) and Adam Zampa (4-0-24-0 in their BBL 10 opener).

Full Squad

BBL 05 winners Sydney Thunder finished the last season as the third-best side of the tournament as Stars beat them in the Challenger by 28 runs.

For this new season, they added the big names like all-rounder Ben Cutting, New Zealand pacer Adam Milne and English batsman Sam Billings (hasn’t joined the squad yet).

Among the retained players, once again the important names in the batting of this squad are Alex Hales, skipper Callum Ferguson, Usman Khawaja and Alex Ross.

In the last season, Daniel Sams managed to create BBL history by picking up most wickets in a season (30 wickets). So, surely, he will play the leading role in the bowling department. Leg-spinner Jonathan Cook is another important name of this squad who got 13 wickets in 12 matches of the last season.

Full Squad

Callum Ferguson (C), Jonathan Cook, Ben Cutting, Ollie Davies, Brendan Doggett, Matt Gilkes, Chris Green, Alex Hales, Baxter Holt, Usman Khawaja, Nathan McAndrew, Adam Milne, Arjun Nair, Alex Ross, Daniel Sams, Tanveer Sangha, Chris Tremain
