The former Australian cricketer, David Hussey set to replace Daniel Vettori in the Big Bash League for an upcoming couple of seasons. He penned a couple of years agreement for the team in the tournament that has a huge fan base across the world. David Hussey previously played for the same franchise Melbourne Stars.

He was the leader of the pack when he was involved with Melbourne Stars a couple of years ago. Under his captaincy, they ended up being the runner-up of the tournament. David Hussey outsmarted the former bowling coach David Saker to take the new role for Melbourne Stars.

I am really honoured – David Hussey

The former Australian cricketer quoted that he is pretty excited to mingle with the team once again. He is going to be the third head coach of the team after New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori and Shipperd, who was the first coach. David Hussey wants to deliver the goods at any cost for the team.

“I am really honoured and incredibly excited by the opportunity to lead the Stars,” Hussey said in a statement today. Stephen (Fleming) has done some remarkable things with this team over the period and I’ll be looking to capitalise on this while bringing in some strategy and style of my own.

Further, he went on to add saying that he still remembers the loss in the final under his captaincy, which was a tough pill to swallow. David Hussey added that he can understand how players are going through after facing the loss in the last year finals under the captaincy of Glenn Maxwell.

“The BBL|05 Final loss still burns inside me, so I can only imagine how the current players must feel with last season’s loss. From my perspective, to make the final from last position in BBL|07 was a Herculean effort which provides a tremendous platform and enthusiasm for the season ahead. I know we have the talent but more importantly, we all have the unwavering desire to win the Club’s first title.”

In a total of seven seasons,  David Hussey played 48 matches for the Stars. He was their chief run-scorer, where he accumulated 855 runs for the team. All in all, it is a brilliant addition for the stars, as David Hussey has always been the person, who works for the team.
