Big Confidence Booster to Play with Gayle in CPL - Sandeep Lamichhane

Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane believes it would be a big confidence booster for him to play alongside Chris Gayle in the CPL.

The youngster got picked by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the upcoming season of Carribean Premier League.

Consequently, Lamichhane will look to keep climbing his improvement ladder. In fact, the young sensation had represented Delhi Daredevils in the recently concluded IPL.

However, the leg-spinner had received limited opportunities in the fag end of the tournament. Sandeep scalped five wickets in the three matches at an impressive economy rate of 6.83.

Great exposure for the Young lad.

Meanwhile, Lamichhane revealed he had followed CPL from the initial stages. Furthermore, the 18-year spinner added it would be a perfect opportunity for him to play with the best in the business.

“I used to follow CPL from the beginning and I’ve been selected for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. It’s a big achievement for me, and again a good challenge for me ahead. I hope I’ll make it count, to play with big names, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, it will be a good booster for me,” Lamichhane told the CPL official website.

Lamichanne played under the tutelage of Delhi Daredevils head coach Ricky Ponting.

In fact, he also drew praises from the former Australian skipper. Therefore, the young sensation wants to keep performing at the highest level.

“It’s always good playing with some legends, playing with big names. It is a big achievement for me and for Nepal cricketers. I’m just looking forward to keeping remaining [at this level]. Playing three matches [at the IPL], it gave me a lot of good confidence and I hope I will continue on the same form,” Lamichhane said.

The leggie added Nepal is growing as a cricketing nation. The country had recently achieved ODI status after their win over Papua New Guinea.

Lamichanne wants to keep growing his game.

“We are growing the game in every part of Nepal. We’ve secured ODI status for four years. We are looking forward to making an impact on the international arena so that we can be in the Test playing nation very soon”.

The youngster added he wants to keep improving his game at the topmost level.

Thus, Sandeep wants to help Nepal Cricket grow in stature at the International level.

“I just want to grow my cricket every time, so that I can help Nepal to reach a high range of cricket. The journey has been good so far and I would like to keep it in the same form so that I can help Nepal cricket”.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will begin their CPL season against Guyana Amazon Warriors on August 9. The franchise had finished as the second-best team in the previous edition.
