Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw experienced an international debut to remember. The dynamic right-hander became the youngest batsman from India to score a hundred on debut and the second youngest Test centurion behind Sachin Tendulkar. He missed out on playing in Australia due to an ankle injury. Furthermore, he was slapped with a ban this past July on account of a doping violation.

The 20-year old inadvertently consumed Terbutaline, which is an illegal substance to consume. The youngster had consumed a cough syrup which contained the banned substance. The suspension imposed by BCCI led him to miss the home series against South Africa. His ban is set to expire on 15th November 2019.

And it looks like the Mumbai star is raring to return to action. On Saturday (9th November), Shaw posted a video on twitter of his net practice while playing a defensive shot, thanking for the support and wishes showered on him on his birthday.

“I turn 20 today. I assure it will be Prithvi Shaw 2.0 going forward. Thank u for all the good wishes & support. Will be back in action soon. #motivation #hardwork #believe,” wrote Prithvi Shaw.

The birthday boy, who turned 20 today, hopes that when he makes a comeback, it will be a stronger version of him. After learning his fate, the right-hander released a statement on Twitter by accepting his fate. Additionally, Shaw remained firm that the sport is everything for him, and that he would emerge faster and stronger from the setback.

Prithvi Shaw leapfrogged Mayank Agarwal to make his Test debut for India. While Mayank Agarwal was one of the standout performers in the domestic circuit, Shaw’s selection was endorsed by several experts. His injury paved the way for Agarwal to make his debut in the third Test at Melbourne in the Border-Gavaskar series of 2018-19.

Since then, the Karnataka batsman has cemented his position as the first-choice opener for India in red-ball cricket. The 28-year old has scored two hundreds and three fifties in seven Tests for India. His highest score of 215 came against South Africa in Vishakhapatnam in 2019.
