Just ahead of the business phase of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians have suffered a big injury blow. Their Caribbean import Alzarri Joseph has been ruled out of the ongoing season with a shoulder injury. Alzarri had suffered the blow during the game against Rajasthan Royals on April 13.
The right-pacer, who picked up 6 for 12 on his debut, had a bad day at the office and had conceded 53 runs from 3 overs. Jos Buttler had hit him for four boundaries and a couple of sixes in one over. Alzarri had the opportunity to revive himself as he was still set to bowl the final over. However, he suffered the injury in the 19th over when he made a stunning effort to save a boundary but ended up hurting his shoulder.

On the third delivery, Shreyas Gopal had slapped one through extra cover. Alzarri Joseph then chased it with all he had and made a stunning slide to stop the ball from crossing the ropes. But in the process, he jammed his wrist into the turf and ended up hurting his shoulder. He was seen grimacing in pain before the team doctor arrived to check him and took him out of the ground.
“He has dislocated his shoulder and is out of this IPL season,” a source told Hindustan Times.
Alzarri Joseph did not play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday and is now set to leave India. He was a late replacement for the injured New Zealand pacer Adam Milne. Mumbai Indians have the option to ask for a replacement for the remainder of their engagements. However, reports are claiming they are unlikely to bring in any replacement.
