Yet again same story for Sri Lanka on the International stage. They were outsmarted by the Virat Kohli-led Indian National Cricket Team in all departments of the game. Speaking of the same, Lasith Malinga feels the bowlers did the job but stated that they were at least 30 runs short on the beautiful batting track.
The likes of Avishka Fernando, Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Perera started things well but failed to capitalise the start. The rest of the batsmen never looked comfortable in the middle, especially, facing the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Navdeep Saini in the middle overs.

Lasith Malinga also mentioned the loss of Isuru Udana early in the innings, which made an impact for the team. He added that Udana had got experience under his belt in this format, but unfortunately, he suffered an injury when the team wants him the most. He also gave an update saying that Isuru Udana is doing fine.
Further, Lasith Malinga believes that youngsters must deliver the goods in the middle. Malinga played a few youngsters ahead of Angelo Mathews in the playing XI. Speaking of the same, Malinga stated that team management has decided to give chances to the youngsters.
”We were around 25-30 runs short. We tried to bowl consistent lines and lengths. The bowlers did well to drag the match till the 18th over. He’s (Udana) our main bowler and is very experienced in this format. He got injured just before we went out to bowl. He’s recovering now. We need to give opportunities to the youngsters,” Lasith Malinga said in the post-match presentation.
All in all, it was a tough loss for Sri Lanka team at Indore. Now, they will travel to Pune to lock horns with India in the final T20I of the series.
