Brad Hogg names his top three powerplay batsmen in IPL:

Even though the fate of IPL remains clouded due to Coronavirus, the 49-year-old has revealed his three best powerplay batsmen from the league.

At number three, the former chinaman bowler named a surprise pick in English wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, who has played 45 IPL matches in his career as of yet, scoring 1,386 runs in the process, with a hefty strike rate of 150.

“He [Buttler] stands tall and uses the pace. He tries to pierce the field rather than going over the top under pressure in powerplay phase. He backs his timing and if he’s on the song and bowler is a bit of defensive, he’s got the ramp shots. So I just love him for his versatility,” said Hogg in his V-log.

The second spot in his list went to Indian international Suresh Raina, who has clubbed 5368 runs in the IPL, the second-most by any player in the 12-year history of the league.

Hogg opined, “The thing I like about Raina is that he sums up the opposition bowlers, he targets certain bowlers and those who are strong against him, he rotates strikes, so he is very clever in that regard. I like him at number two; he’s one of my favourites.”

The numero uno spot in Hogg’s list went to his countryman David Warner. The destructive opener has scored 4,706 runs in 126 games in the lucrative league, the highest tally by any overseas player.

“Thing I like about David Warner he is powerful on the leg side but equally good on the leg side as well. He’s little weak on the top of the off and middle when the ball is swinging in, but he tackles it by taking the singles and converting them in the doubles. He is a busy batsman,” said Hogg in the video.

In the end, Hogg also named a few honourable mentions as well, wherein he named Shikhar Dhawan, Gautam Gambhir, and Chris Gayle.
