Breaking: Jofra Archer Ruled Out Of Second Test For Breaking Protocol As He Issues Apology
Just few hours before the start of the second Test between England and West Indies in Manchester, ECB has announced Jofra Archer has been excluded from the game. The cricket board confirmed that the pacer was ruled out of the match after he breached team’s bio-secure protocols.
Jofra Archer will now commence five days of isolation and will undergo two COVID-19 tests in this period, which have to test negative before his self-isolation period is lifted.
The pacer has issued an apology for his action, saying that he was ‘extremely sorry’. The Barbados-born star also said that he was fully aware of how dangerous his action was while expressing his disappointment over missing the crucial second Test.
“I am extremely sorry for what I have done,” said Jofra Archer.
“I have put, not only myself, but the whole team and management in danger. I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone in the bio-secure bubble.
“It deeply pains me to be missing the Test match, especially with the series poised. I feel like I have let both teams down, and again I am sorry,” he added.
England are trailing the three-match series after losing the first match in Southampton by 4 wickets. After being bowled out for just 204, the hosts conceded a big 114-run lead as West Indies posted 318. In the second innings, England were all out for 313 to set West Indies a target of 200.
In reply, the visitors rode on Jermaine Blackwood’s stunning knock of 95 to recover from 27 for 3 and cross the finishing line. As far as Jofra Archer’s performance is concerned, he failed to make a big mark in the game. The pacer did not pick any wicket in the first innings before picking three in the second.
