Australia are looking almost invincible at home in the ongoing season. Buoyed by the fine performance in the Ashes in England, Australia have made light work of all the teams across formats especially Tests in the ongoing home season. They nearly toyed with Pakistan in the two-match Test series and won both the games without breaking a sweat.

The Tim Paine-led side won both the games by an innings and are looking set to win the ongoing game against New Zealand too. After piling up 416 in the first innings, the hosts bowled out the Black Caps for just 166 to take a massive 250-run lead. In the second innings, Australia suffered a collapse and were reeling at 167 for 6 but still had a huge 421-run lead by the end of day three.

With neither Pakistan nor New Zealand managing to cause much trouble for Australia, former England captain Michael Vaughan tweeted that only India have got the tools to do so. The Ashes-winning skipper said that no other team has the tools to compete Down Under against Tim Paine’s side.

“Only 1 Team in the World can compete in Aussie conditions against this Australian Team .. that’s #India .. No other team has the tools imo .. #AUSvNZ,” wrote Vaughan.

Brendon McCullum’s take:

Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum, however, disagrees with Michael Vaughan on the latter’s statement that only India can challenge Australia in Australia. The legendary cricketer, while replying to Michael Vaughan’s tweet, opined that it is still early to write off the Black Caps. McCullum also said that while Australia are likely to win the ongoing game, the remainder of the series will not be a one-way traffic.

“Bit of an early crow here Vaughny? Boult to come back in will be a huge benefit to Nz. As will not having to start batting against the new pink ball under lights! Aus likely to go 1-0 up but seen enough to suggest it won’t be one way traffic throughout. Time will tell I guess..?,” wrote McCullum as he made it clear that he was not at all impressed with Vaughan’s observation.
