Former Australian speedster Brett Lee has shared some exciting duels with several batsmen over the years. Brett Lee was one of the fastest bowlers to have ever graced the game and only a few could stand up to his hostile pace bowling. Amongst the batsmen that he has bowled to in his 13-year career, the Australian has lauded Sachin Tendulkar as the greatest batsman ever.

Sachin Tendulkar is the custodian of numerous records in Test and One-day cricket. With 18426 and 15921 runs respectively in ODIs and Tests, he is the highest run-getter. Tendulkar also leads the list of centuries, being the only batsman to score 100 international centuries. As far as the number of games goes, the 47-year old featured in 463 ODIs and 200 Tests in 24 years, the most by any player.

When asked Brett Lee which is his favourite innings of Sachin against Australia, he humorously asked which one since he always scored a hundred against the Aussies. Lee went on to pick the knock at the 1999 Boxing Day Test. The right-handed batsman scored 116 and 52, but the hosts won the Test comfortably by 180 runs. The 43-year old added that in my opinion, Sachin is the greatest batsman to have played.

Which one? He always scored a hundred against Australia, didn’t he? The Boxing day Test, I have played a few Boxing Day Tests against Sachin but any time Sachin gets a hundred, it’s almost like it’s a different level. And I have played against some of the great cricketers and I have always said that Sachin Tendulkar in my opinion is the best batsman ever,” the 76-Test veteran said in the Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.

The New South Wales batsman concluded by stating that Mumbai batsman mustered plenty of centuries against us and all they could do is appreciate him. And try to dislodge him on the next delivery.

He got a lot of hundreds against us and it was almost like that when Sachin got a hundred, you would just clap and say too good mate. And then try and knock him out next ball,” Lee added.
