Brian Lara Picks Sachin Tendulkar's Best Test Innings

During his 24-year-long career, Sachin Tendulkar scored 100 centuries across ODI and Test cricket. Having made his Test debut in 1989, Tendulkar went on to accumulate runs against the likes of Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Shoiab Akhtar, Courtney Walsh, and Curtly Ambrose. And while there exists no shortage of some best knocks, Brian Lara believes that his 241 against Australia at the SCG was arguably his greatest.

During the 2003-04 series against Australia on their turf, the batting maestro struggled for form. Before that big inning in Sydney in the first innings, the right-handed batsman’s highest score in the rubber was 44. Hence, he was under intense pressure, which enabled him to craft one of the most significant knocks of his career.

Besides, even though the match resulted in a draw, the Mumbai batter’s determination stays alive in the minds of his fans. During that knock, Tendulkar didn’t play a single cover drive and still managed to score that many runs.

The Prince of Trinidad took to Instagram and named the knock of 241 as his best of his 200-Test career since it manifested the maximum amount of discipline and determination. Lara further lauded Sachin’s longevity, who made his first appearance at the age of 16 and went on to play for the next 24 years.

Referring to his battling knock, under those circumstances, the West Indian batsman asked to display patience and discipline in their battle to control the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Overall, the Mumbai batsman played 200 Test matches, scoring 15921 runs at an average of 53.78. As far as his ODI career goes, he crunched 18426 runs in 463 fixtures at 44.83.
