Ben Stokes and Alex Hales have been charged while bringing the game into disrepute by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) following a late-night Bristol brawl in September 2017.
England all-rounder, Stokes and right-hand batsman Hales have been found guilty. However, both Stokes and Hales were involved in the incident with two men on 25th September outside Mbargo nightclub in Bristol.
England won the One-day International match against Windies. Moreover, Stokes was arrested at the scene and charged with affray. It was subsequently found not guilty by a jury in July. Hales was not charged anything for the incident.
Each player has been charged with two counts of breaching ECB Directive 3.3 which states: “No-one may conduct themself in a manner or do any act or omission at any time which may be prejudicial to the interests of cricket, or which may bring the ECB, the game of cricket or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute.”

However, The CDC Disciplinary Panel comprises Tim O’Gorman, the chair, Chris Tickle and Mike Smith. The hearings will be held in London in private. The date of the discussions has been delayed, and neither of them will miss the Sri Lanka tour.
Furthermore, Ben Stokes has already missed a lot of international cricket because of the incident. He was not there in England’s Ashes squad last winter. He also missed the ODI and T20I matches that had happened in Australia and New Zealand.
However, Ben Stokes returned into the squad for the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. Stokes then missed the Lord’s Test against India in July to attend for the trial in Bristol. So much so, Alex Hales was also quizzed in between before facing ECB.
In conclusion, Stokes had to face a lot before delivering goods against India in the recently-concluded Test series.
