The current bus driver of Team India in England, Jeff Goodwin has revealed some very interesting facts about his life as a driver with many national teams. He stated the current crop of players has been extremely disciplined.

Goodwin hailed Virat Kohli and his company for their cordial relationship with him. He has been driving cricket team buses since the 1999 World Cup. Goodwin has been the assigned driver for most of the touring teams.

Goodwin further added cricket is changing totally with time. He is of the opinion that the current crop of players is much more disciplined than the yesteryears.

However, he feels that the current Kohli-led Indian team is the best of the lot.

“I like the lads, there are all friendly. They are great to get on with but they are very disciplined. There is a changing way in cricket. In my times, it has changed so much. Australia will be drinking all the time after the game and staying inside the changing room till 2 AM in the morning but now, not as much,” Goodwin said.

“And this team, particularly India, have never known a cricket team as professional, come out after the game so fast. This team is the best one,” said Goodwin.

He also recalled a sweet gesture by Suresh Raina a few years back when his wife was suffering from an illness.

“Raina, a few years ago in Leeds, he gave me his shirt to auction off. I’ve never forgotten that,” Goodwin added.

The veteran bus driver also revealed that where the skipper Kohli sits. He further added that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal calls him an old man. “Mr Kohli sits in front and this gentleman here (pointing towards Chahal) calls me an old man.” When asked about the same he said from the backseat, “Because you are.”

Meanwhile, his son also drove the Indian team across England. For his wonderful services, he also received a letter from the India team for carrying out a good job.

Goodwin’s son becomes a hero too:

“My son was driving the teams. He drove India and Tendulkar used to sit there (besides the driver) and he used to say your daddy is a big star. By the end of the tour, my son became a big star as well. He is only 21. Got a nice letter from the Indian government thanking me and him,” Goodman said.

Just for everyone to know, Jeff Goodwin has a tattoo of famous cartoon character Popeye. He stated the reason why he inked Popeye on his body.

“In 2004, when I was driving Australia, Darren Lehmann was then making drinks and he was a player then and he says ‘You…we like you. We will give you a nickname and he was telling me all the players’ nicknames and after a few days, he went, you are Popeye and everybody calls me Popeye and I’ve even got a tattoo of Popeye now,” he concluded.
