A 19-year-old Australian cricketer, Aaron Hardie, who never played a first-class game, let alone a Test, made headlines by bagging Virat Kohli’s wicket in the practice game at the SCG. However, the first day of the four-day unofficial match between India and CA XI got washed out due to heavy rain.

Meanwhile, on day two, CA XI had won the toss and put India to bat first. Virat Kohli’s men had opened the innings with Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul. Though Rahul failed to get going, Shaw along with four other batsmen had hit respective fifties.

Hardie gets big fish, Kohli!

The India captain has been in good touch and even completed a fifty in the practice game at the SCG. Aaron Hardie, who was among the wickets on day two, got the big fish on 64. Virat, while playing a regular straight drive handed Aaron a return catch, much to his delight.

Though Aaron Hardie is yet to make a first-class debut, he had gained a lot of attention in the practice game. The fast bowler, in his maiden outing against India in Sydney, picked four wickets including that of Rohit Sharma and two tailenders.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw, who had just played two Tests made yet another half-century in the four-day practice game. Later, the middle order had played some exceptional cricket, as Cheteshwar Pujara, skipper Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and all-rounder, Hanuma Vihari were the other four half-centurions from India.

However, India managed to score 358 runs, losing all of their ten wickets in the first essay. In CA XI’s first innings, they had scored 24 runs with no loss before the umpires called for stumps for day two.
