The first match of the five-matches series will kick off from August 1 in Birmingham.

In an interview with BCCI.TV, the former skipper of England said,

“He (Kohli) is a top-ranked player in the world at the moment, and I think a dangerous customer for England as he has the motivation to improve his record in this country. Every player wants to get fame to be able to play well in all sorts of conditions.”

Gooch praised Three Lions’ Test skipper Joe Root as well as India’s batting giant Virat Kohli while replying to a question regarding their comparison. He told that both the skippers are match winners across formats.

Gooch reiterated that it is great for him to watch the duo in action. He added both can play all around the wicket and they are positive in approach and he likes to see that.

“It might be 50 in difficult conditions or 150 on a flat wicket, but when your performance helps  side win the match, that’s when you should be proud of,” said Gooch

Gooch is famous for his prolific record against Asian Teams. He held his personal best of 333 at iconic Lord’s in 1990. He feels that the current Indian squad is more balanced and improved than the previous ones. Graham feels that India will shed the tag of “Poor Travellers” this time around.

Graham Gooch feels that present weather conditions will add more spices to the contest. Its expected to be conventional summer in England and that will not provide any help to seamers. So much so, Virat Kohli would love to deliver his best.

“Sometimes in the past, India have struggled when they have traveled abroad. They have been very strong at home, but they are improving all the time,” he concluded.
