While Chennai Super Kings returned to form with a clinical victory in Dubai, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, sitting miles away in India, could not remain calm. Both the players had sensationally pulled out of IPL 2020 citing personal reasons but their decision has not stopped them from following their IPL team’s journey in UAE.

On Sunday, they could not hide their excitement as CSK beat Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets to return to winning ways. The much-needed victory ended CSK’s three-match winless run and also lifted them up from the bottom of the points table. The three-time champions had lost three of their first four games before thrashing KXIP.

Batting first, the KL Rahul-led side finished its innings on 178 for 4. At 152 for 2 after 17 overs, they were looking set to score something around 200 but the 18th over bowled by Shardul Thakur changed the complexion. The pacer managed to remove the dangerous Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul, two set batsmen, on consecutive deliveries in the 18th over while conceding just three runs.

But looking at the way Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis batted, it would not have mattered even if the target was above 200 as well. The CSK openers scored unbeaten fifties while stitching up a 181-run partnership for the opening wicket to guide their team to win. The target of 179 runs was eventually chased down with 14 balls to spare. Watson scored 83* while du Plessis scored 87.
