India No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara was greeted with a standing ovation on the fourth morning of the ongoing Lord’s Test after he finally got off the mark.

Pujara has been under real pressure in this series thanks to his extended lean patch and his muddled-up technique and most importantly his mindset.

The Indian No.3 has been troubled by James Anderson with his nagging outside off stump. He was caught in the slip cordon while poking at the delivery outside the off-stump in the first innings for a 23-ball 9.

And, so, with India still in the arrears and the in-form KL Rahul dismissed, all eyes were on Pujara when he strolled out to bat on the fourth morning.

And, it took the Indian No.3 as many as 35 deliveries to finally get off the mark.

Pujara clipped an innocuous leg-stump delivery by Sam Curran towards the square-leg to claim an easy single and just like Rahul Dravid in Australia a decade and a half ago, the Indian No.3 was greeted to thunderous applause by the Lord’s crowd.

Meanwhile, Team India are under the pump at Lord’s as the visitors lost the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli in the morning session with their overall lead being 27 runs.

The onus is now on the duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to resurrect the fledgling innings.
