Team India skipper Virat Kohli is all set to appear in his first county stint, as he gears up to play for Surrey in June.

It is still seven weeks before Kohli turns up for Surrey at the North Marine Road. However, Yorkshire is already doing their homework to stop the “Run Machine” of Indian Cricket. Kohli will play the final county game for Surrey at Scarbados in the Specsavers County Championship between 25-28th June.

Every time Yorkshire plays there, it is a greatly anticipated contest. However, this time around, the buzz will be more, as a certain Virat Kohli will be turning up for the opposition side. He is definitely the best modern-day batsmen and Surrey will be looking forward to his stint with them.

Yorkshire will gain confidence from the fact that they have some inside knowledge in the presence of Cheteshwar Pujara. Kohli and Pujara are pillars of the Indian batting line-up in Tests.

Fast bowler, Ben Coad revealed they are already taking tips from Pujara on how to dismiss Kohli.

“We’ve already spoken to Puj about how to get him out,” revealed in-form new-ball seamer Ben Coad.

“But I might keep that a secret! No, seriously, he’s just said ‘Keep it off his legs’. That seems to be the key. Make him come to you and play a patience game with him. I think it will be a bit easier for us at Scarborough with good carry, swing and it nipping around a bit, but he’s a quality player, and we’ll just have to see what we can do.”

Coad is definitely relishing the challenge which will be on display when Kohli takes on the field.

“It’s a great challenge to have,” said the 24-year-old. “I want to play against the best players in the world so I can see where I am with my game and what I need to work on. That kind of thing is important for me now.”

“It’s exciting for county cricket as well. It’s always great at Scarborough, and it doesn’t need a boost there, but to have that sort of name in the County Championship will only bring a few more through the gates at the various grounds. That has got to be a good thing,” he further added.

Kohli had a horrendous season in England last time

Kohli will definitely look to get the much-needed match practice ahead of the five-match Test series against England. Kohli failed miserably in India’s tour of England the last time around. He scored just 134 runs in ten innings at a below-par average of 13.4. It will be the time for redemption, and the Modern Great will definitely look to achieve success in English conditions.
