It will be yet another must-win encounter for the Mumbai Indians when they meet the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 41st match of the tournament.

They defeated Kolkata just a couple of days ago and will look to continue their dominant run against them. The form of Suryakumar Yadav at the top of the order has proved to be pivotal behind the success of Mumbai in the last few matches.

The bowling department also looks pretty settled with Jasprit Bumrah leading the unit.

With the match against Kolkata just a few hours left, let us have a look at the predicted XI of Mumbai

Suryakumar Yadav

He has been the pillar of Mumbai at the top of the order. Surya has been impressive in mostly all the matches and got Mumbai off to brisk starts on most occasions. Even in the previous clash against the same opposition, it was Yadav’s brilliant knock of 59 off 42 deliveries which helped Mumbai get off to a steady start. He is the 3rd highest run-scorer in the tournament so far and will look to continue his rich vein of form today.

Evin Lewis

The southpaw is an asset to have in any T20 team. However, he hasn’t been consistent enough. But given his six-hitting prowess, Mumbai have decided to give him a long run. He is slowly coming into his own. He played a good inning against Kolkata the other day and will look to get Mumbai off to another brisk start alongside Suryakumar Yadav.

Ishan Kishan

The wicket-keeper batsman looked in good touch during the early part of the tournament. However, as the tournament progressed, he slowly lost his shine and is not able to bat consistently at the top of the order. It has resulted in him coming down the order in the last few matches. Ishan also had a couple of off days behind the stumps. However, he is an impressive young man who has the potential to make a solid comeback.

The Mumbai Indians skipper hasn’t been at his best in the course of the tournament. He has been largely inconsistent and hasn’t been able to come out all guns blazing.

However, his captaincy has been impressive especially in the last few matches. His form will be pretty important if Mumbai harbour hopes of making it to the playoffs.

Krunal Pandya

The left-arm all-rounder has been an asset for Mumbai Indians in the last couple of years. He has yet again proved to be quite effective in the middle order. Against the Kings XI Punjab, Krunal struck a magnificent 31 off just 12 deliveries which helped Mumbai clinched a do-or-die clash from a precarious situation.

His left-arm spin has also been quite effective. He has bagged crucial wickets and has also taken some spectacular catches.

Hardik Pandya

Younger of the Pandya brothers, Hardik is slowly coming into his own. He was at one point in time the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

However, he has been quite expensive at times. In the last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he bagged the Man of the Match award for a good bowling spell scored 34 in just 20 deliveries.

JP Duminy

Mumbai’s batting depth is simply extraordinary. After these power hitters, they have Duminy who can rotate in the batting line-up. If wickets fall quickly, then Duminy will go up the order. On the other hand, if the openers provide a good start, he might have to wait in the wings, as the power-hitters will be used during that time. He is a cool and calm customer and will definitely look to come good today.

Ben Cutting

The Australian all-rounder has been largely unused all through the tournament. He has been part of the playing XI’s but has hardly got anything to do. He has walked out to bat way too late in the batting order.

Cutting can surely hit the ball a long way. Hence Rohit should definitely think of sending him up in the batting order. He has been given a few overs in the middle but has gone for runs. Against Kolkata, he went for 16 runs in an over against Robin Uthappa.

Mitchell McClenaghan

The left-arm pacer has proved his potential in the powerplay overs. He has bowled quite brilliantly up front and has been a class act. However, when it comes to the death overs, he had leaked runs. In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he ended up conceding 24 runs in the final over of the innings which proved the difference between the two teams. However given his success in the powerplay, he will definitely continue to be part of the playing XI.

Jasprit Bumrah

He is arguably the best death bowler in the world. He has been quite effective in the last few matches after a few poor games.

However, he has slowly come into the rhythm and will play a major role if Mumbai has to make it to the playoffs. He is the leader of the pack and will definitely look to lead from the front.

In the previous match against Kolkata, he bowled quite well. However, he went for 14 runs in the penultimate over when Dinesh Karthik was batting.

Mayanak Markande

The young leg-spinner started off the tournament terrifically. He bagged three wickets against Chennai and added with four more against Hyderabad.

Despite his sensational start, he has faded away a bit, as the tournament has reached its business end.

However, the captain must give him confidence and say that “you are still my match-winning bowler and I need you to deliver”. He bagged the crucial wicket of Robin Uthappa in the previous clash after missing a sitter.
