England national coach, Chris Silverwood has opened up on Jofra Archer missing the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) due to injury.
Archer plays for the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) and is one of their key players. But, the Rajasthan-based franchise have had suffered a shock setback as the fast bowler has been ruled out of this year’s IPL.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has dealt a big blow to Jofra Archer’s hopes of playing in the upcoming edition of the IPL. The England star has been out of action with an elbow injury since the first Test against South Africa in January.

Silverwood, perhaps harking back to that lack of fear over making the big decisions, is adamant England have done nothing wrong.
“I’m not sure he was over-bowled,” refuted the coach.
“As a fast bowler, your life is hard. I’ve been there and suffered enough injuries in my time. It’s a tough school,” he added.

“Now he has had an injury (a stress fracture of the right elbow) we had to consider what was going to give Jofra the best chance of long-term success. The way we decided to go will do that. The basis of the decision is what’s best for Jofra as an individual and as a cricketer,” Silverwood said.
“I’ve no doubt he’s disappointed to miss the IPL because it’s a great competition. You play with and against the best players in the world and it’s a great opportunity to learn,” the English coach added.
