Chris Woakes & Wife Blessed With A Baby Girl; Shares A Glimpse Via Instagram

England seasoned all-rounder Chris Woakes decided to skip this year’s IPL, expecting the birth of his second child. Delhi Capitals signed Chris Woakes for a hefty price of INR 1.5 crores; however, for family reasons, he decided to opt out of the game. As per his official Instagram handle, Woakes shared the first glimpse of the baby girl that took birth on Thursday 1st October 2020.

Chris Woakes posted a pic of his daughter’s hand on Instagram and wrote a caption “Evie Louise Woakes entered our world on Thursday 1st October 2020”. The couple got married in 2017 and their eldest daughter’s name is Ella, further mentioning that she is ecstatic with the introduction of her little sister. The post earned over 36000 likes and was well-received by his family and friends, including teammates.

Chris Woakes stated that being away from his wife for three months was going to be too much, justifying his reason for missing IPL 2020. The 31-year old wanted to play cricket while also looking after his body; however, featuring for England remains his top priority.

My wife wasn’t well at home and being away from home for three months was going to be too much. Family had to come first. I want to play as much cricket as I can moving forward while looking after my body. However, playing for England remains his top priority,” Woakes stated as quoted by News18.

The Warwickshire all-rounder last played for England in the three-match ODI series against Australia wherein he took six wickets and scored 89 runs alongside a half-century. Woakes was also part of England’s squad that clinched the home Test series against Pakistan and West Indies.
