Chris Wright, the 32-year-old pacer, has signed a two-year deal with the second division club Leicestershire on Thursday (July 5). Meanwhile, he changes his base after featuring seven years for Warwickshire.
Wright, however, lost his consistency claiming just 16 wickets at 43.47. This year, too, he has struggled for wickets, snaring 19 scalps at over 40. In total, he took 249 wickets in first-class cricket, 37 List A wickets and 17 T20 scalps for Warwickshire.
The tall and lanky bowler, who made his first-class debut in 2004 recorded his best figure of 6 for 22 against Leicestershire. Moreover, he is also a handy batsman down the order with 2532 first-class runs.
“I am really excited to be joining the Leicestershire Foxes for the 2019 season and beyond. The club is heading in a good direction. I really hope I can add some experience to what is a good squad with lots of ambition, and helping to win some silverware,” Wright said to County’s website. “Everyone I have spoken to about the club has very positive things to say and I can’t wait for this new challenge. I would also like to thank everybody involved at Warwickshire Bears for making my time at the club so special,” he added.
Paul Nixon, Leicestershire head coach, also expressed his delight to have Wright in his side. He is also confident that he will make their attack more dangerous.
