The Men in Blue completed a 2-0 whitewash against the Irish men after defeating them by 143 runs in the second Twenty20 International in Dublin. It was a great all-around performance from the Indian team which saw them register their biggest victory in T20I cricket. KL Rahul struck a magnificent knock of 70 off just 36 deliveries which included some delightful shots, Suresh Raina also played a good hand of 67. In bowling, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were again the wreckers in chief bagging three wickets each.

It was Irish skipper Gary Wilson, who won the toss and opted to bowl. The opening duo was changed to accommodate the skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at the top. While Rahul missed the opener, Kohli didn’t bat much in the first T20I.

Skipper Kohli was dismissed pretty early but Rahul looked in an ominous touch. He carried on from where he left in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and smashed the bowlers with disdain.

Rahul’s innings of 70 off 36 deliveries was decorated with six sixes and three. Raina also played a brilliant hand of 67 runs. The southpaw looked in good touch during his impressive knock and struck five fours and three maximums in the process.

Moreover, the late impetus was provided by Hardik Pandya, who blazed his way to 32 off a mere nine deliveries. It included a solitary four and four sixes.

India reached a mammoth total of 213 and the match was almost done and dusted from there. Speedster Umesh Yadav provided India with the maiden breakthrough in the form of Paul Stirling’s wicket.

Siddharth Kaul managed to prize out his maiden international wicket. Wickets kept falling in regular intervals and the introduction of spinners was the final nail in the coffin for Ireland.

Kuldeep ad Yuzvendra bagged three wickets each and helped bowl out Ireland for a paltry score of 70 runs. A dominating performance from India was always on the cards.

They will now look to start of their T20I series against England on a winning note. The opening T20I will be played on third July. For his impressive performance in both the matches, Chahal was awarded as the Man of the Series.

Also, here is what Yuzvendra Chahal said at the post-match presentation:

“The wicket was turning. The coaches told me that you must plan according to the wicket. I was mixing the pace up according to the batsman’s thinking, so I bowled four quick ones, and then tossed up the last one (Balbirnie’s wicket),” Chahal stated at the post-match presentation.

“Sometimes the nets are useful because they are some of the best in the world. If you bowl well to them, you get more confidence if they can’t hit you and you can use it as your ball in the match,” he concluded.
