Burgeoning Indian Premier League (IPL) has turned many careers around and Siddarth Kaul would definitely agree to it. The pacer was a part of the Indian team that had won the Under-19 World Cup in 2008 under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

But while several of his teammates went on to make it big in international cricket, he had to toil hard in domestic cricket for almost a decade.

Kaul’s fortunes finally took a turn for the better after he signed up for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last year. He ended the tournament with 16 wickets and was duly rewarded.

The exciting prospect Kaul was included in India A squad for the triangular series in South Africa, where he finished as the third-leading wicket-taker. Moreover, towards the end of the year, he received his maiden India call-up.

Consistent performances in the domestic tournaments pushed Kaul into the Indian One-day International team for a three-match series against Sri Lanka. However, he could not get any game.

Well, Kaul has continued to impress and he is once again reaping the rewards. The pacer has found a place in India’s ODI and T20I squads for the tour of England and Ireland.

The Punjab-based bowler is one of the main portent behind Hyderabad’s brilliant performance this season.  In 10 games, he has taken 13 wickets, helping his side to sit at the top of the table.

Expressing his delight over his selection, Kaul is looking forward to playing in England and Ireland.

“I have experienced this before. It feels good to be rewarded. Every cricketer wants to play for the country. Playing in Ireland and England would be a great opportunity. God has been kind and blessed me with so much,” he told Hindustan Times.

“Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season has been life-changing. I have felt very confident and in control,” he added.

Highly-impressive bowler Siddarth Kaul further praised Sunrisers skipper Kane Williamson and coach Tom Moody for backing him.

“The kind of faith my coach Tom Moody and skipper Kane Williamson have shown me and backed me helped bring out the best in me. I share a great rapport with Kane since we played in the U-19 World Cup in 2008. His captaincy brought the best in me. And all my plans were successfully executed. The conditions in Ireland and England will assist my bowling,” he said.
