Coronavirus Pandemic: New Zealand Cricketers To Go In Quarantine For 14 Days

The widespread wrath of the coronavirus pandemic has affected a lot of people on the entire globe. The sports spectrum has also been affected by a great deal. Recently, various sporting events all across the globe have either been suspended or postponed.
This includes the Australia-New Zealand ODI and T20I series. Having played the first game of the ODI series behind closed doors, the series was completely suspended on Saturday.

Now, reports have emerged that all the New Zealand players will be kept in quarantine for the coming 14 days as a preventive measure after the players returned from Australia.
New Zealand Players To Be Kept In Quarantine For 14 Days
“At 4.30 pm this afternoon, the New Zealand Government tightened its border restrictions and included Australia on the list of countries from which those entering New Zealand would be subjected to a mandatory 14-day self-isolation period,” a statement from Kiwi cricket read.

Australia won the first ODI by 71 at the spectator-less Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday.
The other two matches in the series were supposed to be the same. But the Kiwi government changed the circumstances. The rule would take effect from midnight on Sunday.
Earlier, the Black Caps paceman Lockie Ferguson had been separated from his teammates. He was tested for coronavirus for sore throat. The report, however, was negative.
Cricket World Faces The Wrath Of Coronavirus Pandemic

Apart from the Australia-New Zealand ODI and T20 series, the IPL 2020 has been postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus spread across the country. To the disappointment of the cricket fans, the India-South Africa ODI series has also been called off.
Apart from it, the Road Safety World Series has also been suspended. The England-Sri Lanka Test series has also been suspended.
All the English players playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been called back immediately and the tournament now faces a high chance of being postponed.
