Coronavirus: Suresh Raina Pledges To Donate Rs 52 Lakh To Fight Pandemic

Out-of-favour India cricketers Suresh Raina has pledged to donate Rs. 52 lakh to fight the coronavirus pandemic. At lest 614,00 positive cases have been recorded all around the world, causing death to 28,000 people, from which 137,000 have recovered.

In India, the toll has increased over 900, with at least 20 people losing their life due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Suresh Raina will donate Rs 31 lakh to PM CARES and 21 lakh to UP CM’s disaster relief

Suresh Raina, who hails  from Ghaziabad, will donate Rs 21 lakh to UP CM’s disaster relief fund and Rs 32 lakh to the PM CARES fund. He also urged people to come together and do their bit in a bid to fight the novel coronavirus.

“It’s time we all do our bit to help defeat #COVID19. I’m pledging ₹52 lakh for the fight against #Corona (₹31 lakh to the PM-CARES Fund & ₹21 lakh to the UP CM’s Disaster Relief Fund). Please do your bit too. Jai Hind,” Suresh Raina tweeted. 

Saurashtra Cricket Association releases a statement on donation

Earlier, Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) pledged to donate Rs.42 lakh — 21 lakh to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and 21 lakh to the Chief Minister of Gujarat’s Relief Fund — to help the nation fight against the widespread of the novel coronavirus.

“The President Jaydev Shah and Secretary Himanshu Shah on behalf of Apex Council and members of Saurashtra Cricket Association declare donations of Rs 21 lacs to Prime Minister of India Relief Fund and Rs 21 lacs to Chief Minister of Gujarat Relief Fund,” Saurashtra Cricket Association said in a statement.

Former SCA secretary Niranjan Shah has urged citizens to stay safe and fit. He has also asked everyone to stay indoors.

“Saurashtra Cricket Association has all care & concern for citizens of India in the challenging situation of Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. We request and urge all Indians to stay indoors, stay fit and stay safe,” Shah said in a statement.
