Courtney Walsh, Bangladesh’s interim coach, admitted that he would seek consistency from his players in the upcoming Nidahas Trophy. Meanwhile, Bangladesh had a poor start to this year losing three back to back series.
Further, the former Windies legend usually a pace instructor for Bangladesh, is stepping up in the absence of a coach for the triangular T20 tournament.
Meanwhile, Nidahas Trophy marks the 70-year of Sri Lankan independence. Further, it will involve host Sri Lanka and India with India taking on the Islander in the opener.
The side lacks consistency:
Walsh believes his side has a lot of talent but lacked consistency. As a result, he is keen to improve the consistency level during his tenure.
“If we can get consistent, we will be happy. It is going to be the biggest challenge and it is something that I will be stressing on a lot,” Walsh told reporters.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to take a call on a regular coach and named Walsh as the interim coach. Also, Khaled Mahmud, who acted as a Team Director refused to continue his role following Bangladesh loss against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has been without a head coach since October when Chandika Hathurusingha decided to leave Bangladesh to join Sri Lanka.

Further, Walsh admitted that didn’t take a lot of time to decide.
“Once the opportunity came, it wasn’t anything too difficult to discuss. I want to improve what we are doing here and hopefully take up a challenge,” said Walsh. “It is going to be like a father figure, to give them the confidence,” he concluded.
However, Bangladesh will look to change their fortunes under their new coach. Further, Shakib Al Hasan will return from injury to lead the side.
