Craig Ervine Appointed As Zimbabwe's Full-Time Limited-Overs Captain

Zimbabwe cricketer Craig Ervine has been appointed as the full-time skipper of the national side. Sean Williams will continue to lead the Test side, while Regis Chakabva will be the vice-captain in all three formats.
The southpaw has led the African nation in 15 international matches across formats including just one test match. He will be leading the side for the upcoming tours of Ireland, Scotland and Sri Lanka.
In other important changes for the national side, Lance Klusener has rejoined Zimbabwe as batting coach and will take over from Stuart Matsikenyeri, who is now the assistant coach.

Lalchand Rajput will continue as the head coach of the national side. The side is still looking for a bowling coach. Klusner’s appointment was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board in a meeting on Monday. In that same meeting, Craig Ervine’s name was proposed as the captain of the white-ball sides.
“He is taking over from Stuart Matsikenyeri, who now moves to the position of assistant coach, while Lalchand Rajput remains in charge as head coach of the national side,” stated an official statement.

There are changes in the leadership group of the Zimbabwe Women’s national team as well. Mary-Anne Musonda will serve as the captain of the women’s team with Josephine Nkomo named her deputy.
There are changes in the support staff as well. Gary Brent, 46, will take over the role of head coach from Adam Chifo. Brent played four Tests, 70 ODIs and three T20Is for Zimbabwe between 1999 and 2008. Brent will look to take the team towards a better direction.
Zimbabwe are placed 10th in the ICC Test rankings for the men’s team. They are ranked 13th in the ODI rankings and 11th in the T20I rankings.
