Indian cricket team, led by Virat Kohli, will resume their international duties when they face Australia down under in all three formats from November. Cricket Australia announced the schedule of the same. The Indian team will engage in three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests from the 27th of November to the 23rd of January next year. Nevertheless, the burning question remains of Virat Kohli’s participation in the entire Test series.
The reason behind Virat Kohli being doubtful is the fact that his wife and renowned Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is due to give birth to their first child in January. And the Test leg of the long tour does not conclude until the 19th of January at the Gabba in Brisbane. BCCI named the 31-year old star batsman in all three squads to lead the visitors.
Nevertheless, Kohli’s plans remain unclear as of now whether or not he plans to return home before the tour ends. The Indian side, which retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with their first-ever Test series victory in Australia in 2018-19, will look to do the same against a full-strength host. Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley stated that the matter is for Kohli to decide and pointed out he is in the squad “He’s in the squad … I think that’s a matter for Virat,” Hockely stated as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald.
Cricket Australia wants the Indian cricketers’ families to arrive:
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockely further said that they are working with the BCCI and Australian government, claiming they have a compelling case to allow the families to travel along with the cricketers.
“We’re working through that at the moment with the BCCI and the Australian government. It will have to be a compelling case obviously for families to come,” Hockley added.
