The warm-up match of India against Cricket Australia XI ended in a stalemate as the visitors ended the final day at 211-2. There were a lot of positives for the tourists as they ticked the right boxes in the second innings. India’s out-of-form opening batsman KL Rahul got much-needed runs under his belt. Rahul scored 62 runs from 98 balls.

The flamboyant right-hander scored eight fours and one six to get back into form. Rahul was a bit scratchy in the initial stages of his innings, however, he was able to build the impetus as he got settled in the crease. Furthermore, there was another big positive for India, as Murali Vijay scored a fine hundred.

India would be happy with their openers form.

The stylish batsman who received his chance in place of injured Prithvi Shaw, hit the ground running from the get-go. Vijay brought his fifty from 91 balls. Subsequently, he changed gears and batted at the top of the game.

Vijay scored 129 runs from 132 balls to finalize his opening position for the first Test. Hanuma Vihari was promoted to number three to spend some time in the middle. Vihari who scored a fine fifty in the first innings scored 15 runs from 32 balls.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia had scored 544 runs in their batting innings. Their gloveman Harry Nielsen scored a fine hundred before getting out to Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Aaron Hardie, the 19-year old, who had scalped the big fish Virat Kohli in the first innings, scored a fine knock of 86 runs. However, Cricket Australia XI kept the Indian team in the field for 151 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja bowled only 11 overs in the innings which goes to show that he might not play in the first Test. Kuldeep Yadav also bowled a solitary over.
