Cricketers Who Are Trolled The Most On Social Media
Updated - 09 Jun 2020, 01:02 AM
Social media has become a very integral part of our lives. The most important thing that it has done is it has proceeded to bridge the game between celebrities and common people.
Nowadays, we see cricketers, like other public figures, use social media to interact with their fans. But, as they say, there is a flip side to everything. While celebrities get a lot of love and adulations from their fans on social media, they are also subjected to mass trolling. And, we have seen a plethora of cricketers, who have been constantly subjected to hilarious or sometimes brutal trolling.
Here’s a look at the most trolled cricketers on social media:

Shahid Afridi
Shahid Afridi has got to be one of the most polarizing figures in the world of cricket. While he enjoys a massive fan following in Pakistan, he is also subjected to a lot of trolling on social media.
Whether it is his contentious age or his 44 ducks in international cricket or multiple retirements or his recent venomous political statements against India, Afridi is always on the firing line, as far as social media is concerned. Recently, there were reports of terrorist Dawood Ibrahim’s death. And, guess, who got trolled? Yep! Shahid Afridi.
Dawood has died more times than Shahid Afridi has retired !

Kamran Akmal
Okay! Tell me, is there a better love story than the one Kamran Akmal and his penchant for dropping catches, and lots of catches?
Akmal has been a brilliant batsman for Pakistan but that has and will always get overshadowed by his atrocious wicketkeeping skills.
And, no wonder why social media just loves him. Every time someone drops a catch, Kamran Akmal starts to trend on Twitter. Social Media users don’t even spare the guy on birthday, as was evident earlier this year when the wicketkeeper-batsman turned 38.
World no 1 catch droper and stump misser on crutial stages.

And the catches he dropped! Haha yeh toh world record bna lae ta agr drop catches na hotay! Aur hamaray bowlers #1 in all the formats.. specially ShoaibAkhtar

Ashok Dinda
Just as Kamran Akmal starts trending on Twitter every time someone drops a catch, the same is the case with veteran Bengal fast bowler Ashok Dinda.
Dinda, who has been one of Bengal’s finest bowler, didn’t enjoy much success in white-ball cricket both for India or in the IPL. He was consistently carted around the park, and unfortunately, since then he has been subjected to continuous trolling on social media.
Users have even formed multiple social media accounts with names just as ‘Dinda Academy’ and every time a fast bowler gets hammered, fans proceed to induct him in that infamous group-led by Ashok Dinda.

Rishabh Pant
Social Media is a reflection of the society we live in. And, no should know that better than Rishabh Pant.
Once hailed as the next big thing in Indian cricket and an ideal replacement for the legendary MS Dhoni, Pant’s stock has consistently gone downhill in the past 12 months.
And, with his stock going south, his trolling on social media has skyrocketed.

If anyone's gonna come and defend #RishabhPant 's irresponsible shot as playing,"Aggressive Brand of Cricket", needs to get a life first.

Mushfiqur Rahim
Ahh! Mushfiqur Rahim- the social media darling.
Whether it is pre-mature celebration against India in the 2016 T20 World Cup or his Twitter post, celebrating India’s defeat in the semi-final of the same event, or his infamous ‘Naagin dance’ with his Bangladeshi teammates, the former captain always tends to give enough content to social media users to troll him. And, God! They never disappoint.
That face????

MS Dhoni
Dhoni has millions of fans on social media but there is no dearth of his detractors, and time and again the former captain keeps getting trolled for his slow batting in ODIs in the past few years.

Ben Stokes
Indian captain Virat Kohli’s favorite cuss word ‘B***chod* was one of his signature moves, every time he got a hundred or got embroiled in a verbal tussle during the initial stage of his career.
But, no one, and certainly not Ben Stokes, would have imagined that Kohli’s abusive slur will become a cult meme on him. It all happened when Indians noticed the similarity in the pattern of pronouncing ‘Ben Stokes’ and ‘B**chod’.
Recently, Ben Stokes was heavily trolled for supporting UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision of extending the lockdown.

Sarfaraz Ahmed
Sarfaraz Ahmed has always been subjected to constant social media trolling due to his shoddy fitness and lack of runs with the bat during his stint as Pakistan captain.
But it went assumed a completely different level during last year’s Indo-Pak World Cup encounter at Old Trafford. Sarfaraz was caught yawning during India’s innings and thus began relentless trolling on social media with fans coming up with hilarious memes on the former Pakistani captain.

Umar Akmal
Umar Akmal has always invited trolling on social media due to his poor English but it took a completely different level earlier this year when the controversial cricketer posted a photo with former all-rounder Abdul Razzak.
Everything was going well until Umar decided to caption it.
He wrote- “Mother from another brother”
And, the rest, as they say, is history. To understand the things in context, just google ‘Umar Akmal’ and the top recommendations would be the thousand of memes made on the former Pakistan batsman.
