Watch: CSK Reunion - Suresh Raina Signs Contract

Clocks will turn back when Chennai Super Kings return to the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League. One of the most successful teams in the history of the league, the Super Kings could not play in the last two seasons after being suspended for a couple of season in 2015 on corruption charges.

And the comeback will only get better when one of the city’s most beloved cricketer Suresh Raina dons the famous yellow jersey. The out-of-favour Indian batsman along with MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja was retained by the franchise on Thursday (January 5) ahead of the upcoming mega auction scheduled to take place later this month.

Raina, who was signed by the Super Kings in the very season of the league in 2008, tasted immense success with the Chennai-based franchise before the association came to an end in 2015. In the last two seasons, the southpaw led Gujarat Lions, leading them to the top of the table finish in the league stage in 2016.

But it seems his heart is set with the Super Kings, and his latest tweet pretty much proves it. Expressing his delight over being retained by his ‘family’, Raina got nostalgic as he wrote:

Raina won two IPL titles and as many now-scrapped Champions League T20 titles with the franchise and played an integral role in those triumphs. He is the all-time leading run-scorer in the IPL with 4540 runs. He is currently 122 runs ahead of Virat Kohli (4418 runs), who was also retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
