Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni was seen giving a consoling shoulder to young pacer Mukesh Choudhary after he dropped two easy catches in their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai in the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).

CSK was defending a comfortable total of 216 runs, but still catches needed to be taken. However, Mukesh Choudhary just couldn’t manage to hang onto two important ones.

The first catch was that of Suyash Prabhudessai who thumped 34 in 18 balls on his IPL debut. Prabhudessai hit a short ball from Dwayne Bravo in the 12th over straight to Choudhary at deep midwicket and despite covering the catch and doing everything right, the ball popped out of his hands, much to the disgust of Bravo.

The second time Mukesh Choudhary made the mess of an even simpler catch, as the dangerous Dinesh Karthik tried to hoick Maheesh Theekshana over long-off but got nowhere to the pitch and ended up slicing it high in the air. Mukesh took a few steps backward at the backward point and steadied himself under the ball, but grassed the simplest of catches leaving his teammates baffled.

This led to MS Dhoni going to the youngster and saying some encouraging words while having his arm around his shoulder as the bowler looked distraught after disappointing his teammates.

CSK Register Their First Win Of The IPL 2022 After Four Losses

Meanwhile, CSK registered their first win of the IPL 2022 season by beating RCB by 23 runs in the end. Thanks to Robin Uthappa’s 88 and Shivam Dube’s 95*, CSK put on 216/4 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Faf du Plessis, who won the toss.

Then in the chase, Maheesh Theekshana picked 4/33 and Ravindra Jadeja found bowling form with 3/39, as RCB managed 193/9 in their 20 overs with Shahbaz Ahmed (41) being the main scorer and Prabhudessai and Karthik making scores in thirties.
